ADHD diagnosis

I’ve struggled with ADHD my entire life and it definitely affected my mental health growing up. I always felt very different from my peers and “annoying” to my friends and family. This has led to feeling like a burden and constantly apologizing as an adult (among other issues). It’s so easy to think life is just that hard for everyone but that is so often not the case. If my learning disability was addressed when I was younger, maybe I wouldn’t have suffered long-lasting negative effects. MyCuraJOY would have been the perfect app for me to learn about my disorder and talk to someone about it instead of just living in silence and ignorance. Now that I’m getting my mental health straightened out [with a professional], I’m able to be the person I’ve always wanted to be, because I’m finally not just surviving, I’m thriving.

My autistic daughter has mentioned a Netflix show called “The Extraordinary Attorney Woo” a few times this year, and we finally got to watching the show today.  I didn’t want to like it at first because it seemed to fall into the stereotypical savant portrayal of autistic individuals in the media.    Hollywood’s infatuation with the…

My parents only cared about my grades. I think they may have been depressed while I was growing up. Definitely, no one practiced self-help techniques or knew about them in my family.
